  • PENTECOST

  • LAST GREAT DAY
  • Also called Shavuot; The Feast of Weeks or The Feast of First Fruits, Pentecost is
    one of Yahweh’s Appointed Times.
    EXODUS 34:22
“And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the first fruits of the wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year’s end.”

Pentecost is counted 50 days from the Sabbath of unleavened Bread

    LEVITICUS 23:15-17
“And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the Sabbath, from the day
that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be
    complete:
    Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days;
and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto YHWH.
    Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of  two tenths deals;
they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the first
    fruits unto YHWH.
    fruitbasket and bread

    LEVITICUS 23:21-22
“And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day, that it may be an Set Apart
convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute
for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.
And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shall not make clean riddance
of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any
gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the
stranger: I am YHWH your Elohiym.”

So we see that the Feast of Weeks was a time to thank YHWH and to rejoice for
the plentiful harvest that He had given them. Shavuot was believed to be the anniversary of the Children of Israel receiving the Torah at Sinai, however we can
find no reference to this in Scripture.
However it should be recalled that all “first fruits” belong to Yahweh.

    EXODUS 22:29-30
“Thou shall not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the
firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.
Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days shall it
be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.”

For believers in the Renewed Covenant Scriptures, the Feast of First Fruits is
associated with the receiving of the Ruach Ha Kodesh on the Day of Pentecost.

    ACTS 2:1-4
“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord
    in one place.
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind,
and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat on each
    of them.
And they were all filled with the Ruach Ha Kodesh, and began to speak as with
other languages, as the Ruach gave them utterance.”

Yahushua was the First Born (First Fruit) of the Spirit. The Barley harvest. The Called
and Chosen Ones of YHWH are the First Fruits of the Wheat Harvest.

    COLOSSIANS 1:14-18
“In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Who is the image of the invisible Elohiym, the firstborn of every creature:
For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in the earth,
visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or
powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him:
And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.
And He is the head of the body, the congregation: who is the beginning, the
firstborn from the dead; that in all things He might have preeminence.”

    ROMANS 8:29
“For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.”

So we see that the Yahushua was the firstborn from the dead, making way for the
Spirit to be poured out upon repentant believers. The Day of Pentecost, 50 days from
the Sabbath of Unleavened Bread, was when the Ruach(Spirit) was first given to
the congregation. The Ruach gave the believers the power to overcome, that which
they could not overcome in the fleshly carnal mind,(Romans8:7) the Ruach setting us free from bondage to sin. In this respect Pentecost is similar to a Jubilee year, a
Jubilee year is Seven times Seven Sabbaticals that is 49 years the Fiftieth year being
Jubilee. in Jubilee year Liberty (freedom) is given.

    LEVITICUS 25:10-13

“ And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the
land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a Jubilee unto you; and ye shall
return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his
    family.
A Jubilee shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that
which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed.
For it is the jubilee; it shall be set apart unto you: ye shall eat the increase
    thereof out of the field.
In the year of this Jubilee ye shall return every man unto His possession.”

So in the year of Jubilee physical freedom was given, by the gift of The Ruach Ha
Kodesh at Pentecost we were given Spiritual freedom from the bondage to sin and
    death.

    Romans 8:1
“For the law of the Spirit of life in Messiah Yahushua hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”

Yes, we have plenty of reason to celebrate Pentecost and honour our Elohiym.

    return to top.

    LEVITICUS 23:24-25
“Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first
of the month, ye shall have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing trumpets, an
    Set Apart (Kodesh)Convocation.
Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire
     unto Yahweh.”

    NUMBERS 29:1-6
“And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall
have an Set Apart (Kodesh) Convocation; ye shall do no servile work:
it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you.”

The seventh month is the seventh time in Yahweh’s sacred calendar that the trumpet
is blown in the year. Each month at the beginning of the month the Trumpet is
    sounded.

    NUMBERS 10:10
“Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the
beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt
offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to
you for a memorial before your Elohiym: I am YHWH your Elohiym.”

For ancient Israel there was a connection with the blowing of the Trumpet and the
    receiving of Torah.

    EXODUS 20:18-20
“And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightenings, and and the
noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it,
they removed and stood afar off.
And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us , and we will hear: but let not
Elohiym speak with us, lest we die.
And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for Elohiym is come to prove you,
and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye not sin.”

There is a distinct similarity between the above description of the time of the giving
of the Torah, and the description given for the return of Yahshua to the earth.

    MATTHEW 24:29-31
“Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and
the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the
powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all
the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the
clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
And he shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall
gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the
     other.”

The Shofar (trumpet) was blown to alert Israel to an event.

    AMOS 3:6
“Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there
be evil in the city, and YHWH hath not done it?”

We see in Zephaniah the trumpet being blown in regard to the Day of YHWH.

    ZEPHANIAH 1:14-16
“The great day of YHWH is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice
of the day of YHWH: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of waste and
desolation, a day of clouds and thick darkness,
A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the
    high towers.

The Seventh Trumpet of the year, the Feast of Trumpets, represents the seventh
    trumpet of Revelation

    REVELATION 8:6
“And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to
    sound.”

    REVELATION 11:15
“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven,
saying, The Kingdoms of this world are become the Kingdoms of our Sovereign
and of His Messiah; and He shall reign for ever and ever.”

So the Feast of Trumpets represents the appointed time in YHWH’s plan of
redemption that Yahushua will return to the earth as King of Kings. Under the
Renewed Covenant this will be the time of gathering together the elect of YHWH.

    1 Corinthians15:51-53
“Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be
    changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet
shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be
    changed.
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on
    immortality
    .” (see also 1Thessalonians 4:13-15)

By observing YHWH’s Kodesh days we have the plan of Salvation mapped out for
us to study and learn from. The Feast of Trumpets is certainly a day to be
Set Apart and celebrated, it pictures Yahushua’s return and the Coming of the
    Kingdom of Yahuweh.

    1 THESSALONIANS 4:16-18

“For the Master himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, with the trump of Elohiym: and the dead in Messiah shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remaineth shall be caught up together with them in
the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Master.
Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”

We see in the above scripture then, that this is the time of the First Ressurection.
The time when The Messiah will gather His saints to be with Him forever. What a
wonderful time that will be for those who qualify now for the first resurrection
For a final word on the topic let us go to:-

    PSALM 81:3
“Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn
    feast day.”

    return to top

Atonement is the only day on which we are commanded to fast, (that is no food or
drink). The purpose of fasting is to draw closer to Yahweh, it shows us how weak
we are and how much we need Him.
Before we comment on this Set Apart day, let us first look at some scriptures
    pertaining to Atonement.

    LEVITICUS 23:27-32

“Also in the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement:
it shall be an Kodesh (set apart) convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your
souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto YHWH.
And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make
an atonement for you before YHWH your Elohiym.
For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall
be cut off from among his people.
And whatsoever soul doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I
    destroy from among his people.
Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your
    generations  in all your dwellings.
It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict yours souls: in the
ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.”

    NUMBERS 29:7
“And ye shall have on the tenth day of this seventh month an Kodesh
Convocation; and ye shall afflict your souls: ye shall not do any work therein.”

    LEVITICUS 16:7-10 two goats.

“And he shall take the two goats, and
present them before Yahweh at the door
of the tabernacle of the congregation.
And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two
goats; one lot for Yahweh, and the other
    lot for the scapegoat.
And Aaron shall bring the goat upon
which Yahweh’s lot fell, and offer him for
    a sin offering.
But the goat, on which the lot fell to be
the scapegoat, shall be presented alive
before Yahweh, to make an atonement
with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.”

    LEVITICUS 16:15-22
15.“Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and
bring his blood within the veil, and do with that blood as he did with the blood
of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:
16.And he shall make an atonement for the Kodesh place, because of the
uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of all their transgressions in
all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that
remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness
    17. And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he
goeth in to make an atonement in the Kodesh place, until he come out, and
have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all Israel.
18.”And he shall go out unto the altar that is before Yahweh, and make an
    atonement
for it; and shall take the blood of the bullock, and the blood of the
goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.
19.And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and
cleanse it, and hallow(purify) it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.
    20. And when he hath made an end of reconciling the kodesh place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat.
    21. And Aaron shall lay both hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess
over him all the iniquities of of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions
in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him
away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:
    22. And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.”

How does all this go together to portray future events? Let us look at the first
goat; the goat of the ‘sin offering’. Yahushua was the sin offering for us, to enable
us to be reconciled with the Father Yahweh. However that reconciliation will not be
complete until Messiah Yahushua returns to the earth and collects his people up.

    MATTHEW 25:31-34
“When the Son of man shall come in His magnificence, and all the Kodesh
angels with Him, then He shall sit upon the throne of His honour.
And before Him shall be gathered all nations: and He shall separate one from
another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
And He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.
Then shall the King say to them on His right hand, Come, ye blessed of my
Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.”

Previously sins could not be blotted out, they could only be ‘covered’ by animal sacrifices, Yahushua gave us redemption.

    HEBREWS 10:4
“For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away
     sins”

However Yahushua did make that supreme sacrifice once, for all.

    HEBREWS 9:11-14
“But Messiah being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater
and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this
    building;
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in
once into the Kodesh place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the
unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
How much more shall the blood of Messiah, who through the eternal Spirit
offered himself without spot to Elohiym, purge your conscience from dead
works to serve the living Elohiym.”

    ROMANS 5:8-11
“But Elohiym commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet
     sinners, Messiah died for us.
Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from
    wrath through Him.
For if, when we were reconciled to Elohiym by the death of his Son, much more,
we shall be saved by His life.
And not only so, but we also joy in Elohiym through our Master Yahushua
Messiah, by whom we have received the atonement.

So we see that Yahushua became the Atonement goat of the sin offering. Still in
Leviticus 16:10 we see that the scapegoat was presented alive before Yahweh, to
make an atonement with Him. The scapegoat having all the sins of Israel put upon
his head. In this respect Yahushua also took all the sins of Israel upon himself,
and was after His resurrection presented alive before The Father YHWH, so we
read in the scripture above (Romans5:10-11) “....much more shall we be saved
    by His life”
and “.....by whom we have received the atonement.”

However upon Yahushua’s return to the earth the sin is going to be placed firmly
back on the head of Ha Satan. where it belongs.
This scapegoat the Hebrew word is ‘azazel’, represents the complete putting away
of sin. We see that when Yahushua returns to the earth, he will have Ha Satan
completely put out of the picture for the thousand years.

    REVELATION 20:1-3
“And I saw an angel come from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit
and a great chain in his hand.
And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan,
and bound him a thousand years.
And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him,
that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years be fulfilled:
And after that he must be loosed a little season.”

So we see it is Ha Satan that will be put “away by the hand of a fit man” (Lev.16:21)
and what fitter man could there be than Yahushua Ha Mashiach .

Praise YHWH who truly is ALL .

    Sukkot feast of Tabernacles

Sukkot is also known as the Feast of Booths, or the Feast of Tabernacles.

    LEVITICUS 23:34-36
“Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, the fifte Booth ,4 species and cornenth day of this seventh
month shall be the feast of tabernacles
    for seven days unto YHWH.
On the first day shall be an Kodesh
convocation: ye shall do no servile work
    therein.”
Seven days ye shall offer an offering
made by fire unto YHWH: on the eighth
day shall be an Kodesh convocation
unto you; and ye shall offer an offering
made by fire unto YHWH: it is a solemn
assembly; and ye shall do no servile
    work therein.”

    LEVITICUS 23:39-43

“Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the
fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto YHWH seven days: on the first day
shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.
And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, the
branches of palm trees, and the willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice
before YHWH  your Elohiym seven days.
And ye shall keep it a feast unto YHWH seven days in the year. It shall be a
statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh
    month.
And you shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall
    dwell in Booths:
That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in
booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt.”

From the above scriptures, we see the time, the instruction and the purpose for
keeping the Feast of Tabernacles. These Tabernacles (booths) were to be built
by the people themselves from branches.

    NEHEMIAH 8:14-18
“And they found written in the law which YHWH had commanded by Moses,
that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh
     month:
And that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem,
saying, Go forth unto the mount, and fetch olive branches, and pine branches,
and myrtle branches species and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make
    booths, as it is written.
So people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves
booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their
courts, and in the courts of the house of Elohiym, and in the
street of the water gate, and in the street of the gate of
    Ephraim.
And all the congregation of them that were come again out of
the captivity made booths, and sat under the booths: for since
the days of Jeshua the son of Nun unto that day had not the children of Israel
done so. And there was very great gladness.
Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of
the law of Elohiym. And they kept the Feast seven days; and on the eighth
day was a solemn assembly. according unto the manner.”

In our present time many groups observing the Feast of Tabernacles, stay the
week in motels and hotels, and much of the time attending tourist attractions
and amusement parks. This is probably not what YHWH had intended. The Feast
was supposed to be a memorial of the time when the Israelites lived in booths
in the Wilderness relying totally on YHWH for every need and for protection from
both enemies (human and wild beast) and the elements. A motel or hotel is a
permanent structure designed to keep out the storm, with lockable windows and
doors to keep out the enemy, it requires no more trust in YAHWEH than the atheist
has to dwell in a motel. To dwell in a booth made of branches however requires
the faith in YHWH to keep us warm and dry, to keep out pitbull terriers and what
or who ever else maybe prowling around, it helps us to realize just how dependent
we are on YHWH for every good thing. To be able to celebrate the feast of booths
at a time when the harvest is full and food is plentiful, helps us to have faith in His
care for us as we can enjoy the bountiful crops He has provided for us.
While the Feast of Booths is a memorial of the dwelling in the wilderness, it also
represents a future event and that is the 1000 year reign of Messiah. When Messiah
returns to this earth, the earth will be quite devastated from the wars and
earthquakes, prophecy tells us that there will be few men left alive. In fact our
Saviour told us if He did not return there would be no flesh left alive.
    MATTHEW 24:22
“And except those days be shortened, there should be no flesh saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.”

This being so there is also a great possibility that in the beginning of the 1000 year
reign many will then once again have to live in temporary dwellings (as the Israelites
did during the 40 years in the wilderness) while the earth is restored and refreshed
and the wonderful peace and abundance of the Kingdom of YHWH, comes into being.

    HOSEA 12:9
“And I that am Yahuweh Thy Elohiym from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.”

The Feast of Tabernacles is a time when Yahuweh’s people come together to live
in unity, caring and sharing, and learning from the Law of Yahuweh. It pictures the
time fast approaching when all people of all nations will learn to live by the Way of
Yahuweh, when peace and unity and a plentiful harvest will be the life of all.
Certainly this is worth looking forward to and celebrating.

    return to top.

The Last Great Day comes directly after the Feast Of Tabernacles. Unlike Pentecost,
Trumpets and Atonement there is no time space between.
It tells us of the time of The Final Judgement. The time when all the dead who had
not been in the first resurrection will be raised and judged.
Called the White Throne Judgement. The Second Resurrection.
We are told that those left alive at Messiah’s return will be given a hundred years
to learn how to live by Yahweh’s Law.
    ISAIAH 65:20
“There shall be no more an infant of days, nor an old man that has not filled
his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an
hundred years old shall be accursed.”

So at the time of the second resurrection it is likely that those who had not previously known Yahweh’s Way will also be given a hundred years to learn and
prove themselves. Millions of people will be resurrected to learn of Yahweh’s ways,
which they were not able to learn before as only a few were called to be “firstfruits”.
    MATTHEW 13:11
“He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the
mysteries of heaven, but to them it is not given.”

So many many people will then have a chance to learn of Yahweh’s Way. Those who
have known and rejected Yahweh’s Way will have to hope He will give them a
chance to show that they have repented and are now willing to follow His Way.

    REVELATION 20:12-13
‘And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before Elohiym; and the books
were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the
dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books,
    according to their works.
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and *hell delivered
up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.”

The word *hell, in the above scripture is number 86 of the Greek in Strong’s, it
is the word “Hades” more accurately translated as “grave”.

The Messiah kept the Feast of Tabernacles, He got up and spoke to the people
on the Last great Day, let us look at some of what He said on that occasion.

    JOHN 7:37-38
“In the last day, that great day of the feast, Yahushua stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto Me and drink.
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow
    rivers of living water.”

The Last Great Day will also mark the end of our time and for us, the beginning of
     Eternity.
    REVELATION 21:1-2
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first
earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from Elohiym out
of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”

    REVELATION 21:5-6
“And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold I make all things new. And he
said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
And He said unto me it is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the
end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life
    freely.”

Compare the words of John 7:38 with those of Revelation 21:6

So the Last Great Day heralds the end of things as we know them and is followed by Eternity with YHWH

    REVELATION 22:17
“ And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come.
And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of
    life, freely.”

The Last Great Day is the final Set Apart day of the year. With each year that we
observe these days we learn a little more of each day’s fulfillment promises, we
grow in knowledge of both the meaning of the days themselves and also of the
incredible love and mercy and forethought that Our Elohiym Yahuweh and His
Messiah have for us. It truly is an awesome privilege to be among those at this
time called  to know Yahweh’s plan ahead of time, to have the opportunity to be
among the firstfruits. We pray that we will all be up to the many challenges of our
calling, with the certain knowledge that that which He has begun in us He is also
    able to finish.

    HEBREWS 12:2

“Looking unto Yahushua the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy
that was set before Him endured the cross, and despising the shame, and is
set down at the right hand of the throne of Elohyim.”
